I've just got video working on my new 5310 thanks to the 176x144 clue given by joepajj (cheers mate).

I tried using ffmpeg to do the conversion, and found it really powerful and really hard to use, but finally worked it out and after playing with the frame rates and bit rates, thought I'd share my findings...

I found that an audio bit rate of 128k worked pretty well (leaving it to default caused a lot of glitches in the sound).

Also, when the video involved a lot of movement, the phone struggled to handle it, so I dropped the frame rate to 20 and video bit rate to 150k and found it a reasonable quality playback on the phone (although playing vid's is obviously on the edge of it's abilities, so furthur tweeking of these may be needed).

And to save people the pain of working out the command lines for ffmpeg (which really did work very well), here's what I used (run from a command line prompt):

ffmpeg -i [insert name of source file here] -b 150000 -r 20 -s 176x144 -ab 128000 [insert name of target file here, including the .mp4 file extension]

Just instal Nokia Pc Suite.
open video with Nokia Multimedia Player, save the file as ".mp4" and select the target resolution and file size
to 176*144 or 320*240.
